About Susan Fiske Koehler
Susan has spent her life committed to making the world a better place—from serving on the steering committee for the First Earth Day Celebration to working as campaign press secretary for the first African American elected Mayor of Oakland, California and helping build a children’s hospital in Uganda.
She founded 501(C)onsultingSolutions specifically to help small to mid-sized nonprofits change the world. If you engage Susan, you can count on realizing results through pragmatic, creative, strategic and effective action. Susan measures her success by what you achieve, not the advice she gives.
In the first chapter of her professional career, Susan worked in the private sector winning the top national awards from the International Association of Business Communicators and Public Relations Society of America for her campaigns. Her ability to think on her feet, write quickly, and her integrity and flexibility resulted in her being tapped to join the elite crisis communications squad of International PR Firm Hill & Knowlton.
Following the death of her husband and as the mother of two young children, she transitioned to the charitable sector full-time.
Susan has been a nonprofit Executive Director, Development Director and Public Relations Director. She has served on five nonprofit boards and been Chair of four. Susan is committed to continual learning and has earned certificates in nonprofit management, leadership coaching, and grant writing. She studied business ethics and leadership so she could navigate an industry where personal passions undergird organizational structure. In 2016, Susan was selected as a BoardSource Certified Governance Trainer.
She is a 23-year cancer survivor and brings a wealth of personal and business acumen and experience to all her clients, as well as a healthy dose of good humor.
